The Astrology of March 2026:
Finding ClarIty Within Calamity
Renato Órdenes San Martín
March 1, 2026 — March arrives in the thick of eclipse season and a particularly confusing Mercury retrograde. We're also in the wake of the reality-bending Saturn–Neptune conjunction and shocking Mars square Uranus. Hairpin turns, jolts of violence, and collective agitation have set the tone. Nothing about this period feels casual.
We are standing at a civilizational threshold. Saturn represents structure, the scaffolding of reality as we've known it, while Neptune dissolves. When they meet at 0° Aries, the very beginning of the zodiac wheel, whatever we took for granted as solid ground comes into question.
We are feeling the reverberating ripples in real time. Revelations of corruption, domestic instability, open warfare, and AI-driven propaganda blury between truth and fiction. The impulse to leap is strong, and things long at standstill are finally moving. But the planets are asking us to mind the details before taking further leaps.
On March 3, a Total Lunar Eclipse in Virgo brings reckoning and release. What have we been maintaining past its expiration date? Forming on the South Node, this eclipse signals karmic clearing of outdated structures, inherited obligations, and patterns of control. Luckily, Jupiter in Cancer offers support. Even amid escalation, something nourishing is surfacing. Protection, family, and care are rising in the face of calamity. We are called to meet what is revealing itself with both compassion and concerted action.
As Venus enters Aries on March 6, February's collective reset becomes personal. Desires are sharpening, and identities reformulating. The Pisces New Moon on March 18 asks us to grieve what is dissolving without losing sight of what is being born. Then the Sun enters Aries on the equinox and the astrological new year begins in full force. This is true initiation, requiring courage rooted in discipline and endurance.
As the month closes, Venus conjunct Chiron brings a final healing around self-worth. Luckily, Venus enters Taurus on March 30. After much intensity, genuine relief arrives as we return to the body and what is tangible and sustaining. Saturn sextile Pluto carries quiet wisdom: real change is built steadily, with patience and intention.
March offers both catalyst and renewal. Watery reflection, grief, and outrage are finding their way into fire and creative force. How this unfolds depends on each of us keeping our hearts open no matter what.
MARCH 2026 TRANSITS
TOTAL LUNAR ECLIPSE IN VIRGO
On March 3, a Virgo Total Lunar Eclipse brings culmination and release. Forming on the South Node, this signals karmic clearing. We’re dissolving outdated systems, inherited obligations, and patterns of control that have outlived their purpose. Virgo asks us to look honestly at what is and isn't working. What have we been maintaining out of habit rather than genuine alignment? A sextile to Jupiter in Cancer offers support, reminding us that not everything ending is a loss. Some things simply need to be reorganized.
VENUS ENTERS ARIES
On March 6, Venus enters Aries, becoming the first personal planet to cross 0° Aries since Saturn and Neptune met there in February. The collective reset now becomes individual. We’re reorganizing our desires, values, and what we are willing to invest energy in. Venus conjunct Saturn asks us to become clear about what we want, while Venus conjunct Neptune invites us to dream boldly. Together they are helping us begin to align our ideals with our actions.
SUN CONJUNCT MERCURY RETROGRADE IN PISCES
The Sun meets Mercury retrograde in Pisces on March 7, marking the midpoint of the retrograde cycle while seeding a new Mercury cycle that will set the tone for the next several months. In Pisces, this conjunction is dreamy and inward—less about sharp clarity and more about reconnecting with deeper purpose. A trine to Jupiter in Cancer offers support. We can pay attention to intuitions and synchronicities that emerge now.
JUPITER STATIONS DIRECT IN CANCER
On March 10, Jupiter stations direct in Cancer, the sign of its exaltation. This is genuinely good news. Jupiter in Cancer expands themes of home, family, emotional security, and nourishment, and its direct station clears the way for growth in these areas. We have four more months of abundant, protective energy before Jupiter moves into Leo in late June. We might remember to make the most of it.
MERCURY CONJUNCT MARS AND NORTH NODE
Between March 15 and 17, Mercury and Mars meet at the North Node in Pisces. When the planet of thought meets the planet of action, words become deeds. We say what we mean and act on what we know. With the North Node involved, this energy aligns with collective destiny and where we are meant to grow. This is a powerful time for honest communication and decisive action, though sharp words can cut deep.
PISCES NEW MOON
On March 18, a Pisces New Moon falls at the end the zodiac, conjunct Saturn and Neptune and sextile Uranus in Taurus. This is a threshold moment poised between endings and beginnings. The planets are asking us to grieve what is dissolving while daring to name what is being born. Something that has been building for a long time is ready to take more concrete form.
SUN ENTERS ARIES / SPRING EQUINOX
On March 20, the Sun enters Aries, marking the spring equinox and the astrological new year. Joining a rare concentration of planets at the Aries Point, the Sun activates the same Saturn-Neptune conjunction that seeded a new era in February. The shift from waiting to acting, from reflecting to initiating, is palpable. This is the hero's journey beginning in earnest. Set intentions with care—what you commit to now carries real momentum.
MERCURY STATIONS DIRECT
On March 21, Mercury stations direct at 8° Pisces, beginning to clear the fog that has gathered over recent weeks. The insights of the retrograde period start to crystallize, and what was vague begins to make sense. As Mercury remains in its shadow period through mid-April, it would be wise to move thoughtfully rather than rushing to execute all at once.
VENUS CONJUNCT CHIRON IN ARIES
On March 26, Venus meets Chiron at 25° Aries in the last such conjunction in this sign for over forty years. Chiron has been in Aries for seven years, asking us to heal our relationship with identity and self-worth. Old wounds around our value and the right to simply be who we are rise to the surface not to reopen pain but to heal it. A final, meaningful breakthrough in how we see and value ourselves is available now.
SATURN SEXTILE PLUTO
On March 28, Saturn at 5° Aries forms an exact sextile to Pluto at 5° Aquarius. This quiet but constructive transit suggests that deeper structural changes are gaining practical traction. Saturn brings discipline and implementation while Pluto drives systemic transformation. Not loud or dramatic, but the kind of energy that makes change actually stick.
VENUS ENTERS TAURUS
On March 30, Venus enters Taurus, her home sign. After a month of intensity this is a genuine exhale—returning our attention to the body, to beauty, and to what is real and nourishing. There is pleasure here, and stability, and the quiet reminder that the earth still holds us. After so much dissolution and initiation, this is an invitation to rest and restore.
MARCH 2026 ASPIRATION
As winter loosens its grip and the sun begins to offer more warmth, may we take this time to go inward and reflect on the season to come. May we soften and remember the bigger picture, no matter the calamity around us, returning to love and clear vision, again and again.
