We begin November from deep inside Scorpio’s underworld. Like falling leaves, veils have been dropping, revealing repressed feelings and hidden truths. At this point, plunging the depths is so familiar—even exhausting. Jupiter has been visiting Scorpio since October of 2017, exposing our collective underbelly—particularly relating to abuse, sexuality, and power. But this month, so much is ready to shift. 

Jupiter finally changes signs on November 8, moving out of Scorpio’s shadows, into bright, optimistic, and truth-seeking Sagittarius. The Nodes are also changing, moving along the Cancer-Capricorn axis, adjusting our paths forward. We’re officially beginning an era of the empowered feminine while we continue to clear karma around patriarchy, intolerance, and other massive systemic problems.

Venus also stations direct mid-month, ushering us forward in the realms of love, relationships, money, and values. After a difficult and confusing journey, we can now feel the blessings of greater resilience, balance, openness, and restored hearts. All the while, we can remember that the main theme of the month is expansion. We’re finding the courage to open to greater and greater truths, broadening our minds, and celebrating our deepest wisdom, with humor, joy, and hope.

The Nodes Change Signs

On November 6, the nodes change sings. The North Node moves into Cancer, while the South Node—always directly opposite—moves into Capricorn. The North Node is our true path forward, while the South Node represents where we’ve come from, and the karma we still need to resolve. For the past year and a half, the nodes have been moving through Leo and Aquarius, calling on us to offer our talents to the world for the benefit of all. We’ve been learning to embrace our authenticity and uncertainty, while we break away from the status quo.

In Cancer, the North Node is now pointing to home, intimacy, and our roots, encouraging us to explore how we relate to our deepest emotions and relationships. We’re now much more focused on tribe and family, empowering the nurturing feminine within each of us to lead the way forward. In Capricorn, the South Node is clearing issues around patriarchy, emotional repression, and our shackling to the past. The way to liberate now is to feel what we feel, dislodging any stuck emotions and conditioning. We’re rapidly untangling the notion that emotions are weakness, as we embrace our vulnerability as our true strength.

Scorpio New Moon

A Scorpio New Moon arrives on November 7, forming a harmonious and healing trine with spiritual Neptune. The nodes, Jupiter, and Uranus all change signs around this lunation, bringing emphasis to the feelings of newness. Uranus squares the nodes just before returning to Aries, showing us where we’ve been out of alignment with our genuineness. Revelations could strike, big changes erupt, all leading us back to our true path. 

Jupiter Enters Sagittarius

On November 8, Jupiter enters Sagittarius—one of the most significant transits of the year. Jupiter is finally leaving Scorpio’s intensity and our year-long dive into major shadow work. Our gazes are lifting, moving toward the horizon. We’re now adjusting our eyes to the bright light of hope, expansion, and truth. Jupiter’s Scorpio transit ends with great healing, forming a Grand Water Trine with Chiron and the North Node—the Wounded Healer and our path forward. We have the chance now to heal any wounds ripped open during the past year before we bound into greater optimism and joy. This peak of hope is following our heaviest work. We can now embrace the present moment, and the understanding that our journey is the goal. As we stop fixating on our end result, we can begin relishing the mere act of walking our paths, as well as our discoveries along the way. Aligning with deeper wisdom, our minds can expand to see the bigger picture. Our trajectories are now unfurling rapidly in ways we previously thought impossible, especially under the dark clouds of the past year.

Venus Trines Mars / goes direct

The feminine and masculine have been on tedious trajectories for many months, with Mars and Venus both retrograding since June. We’ve been recalibrating our inner feminine and masculine, with the genders feeling chafed and divided. As Venus trines Mars on November 9, we’re starting to move forward around issues of gender, relationships, love, values, sexuality, and our direction. With the feminine and masculine in harmony, and we could begin to find more common ground, greater alignment, and more peaceful ways forward.

And finally, Venus stations direct in Libra on November 16, in her natural domicile. Venus retrograde has turned out to be one of the most challenging transits of the year, eliciting rage, frustration, and psychic turmoil, with Uranus simultaneously rattling our core values, and disrupting our flow around money and relationships. Now, the sky is clearing, and we could begin to feel resolved around our heart’s unanswered questions. We’re ready for a fresh start as our love feels restored—and we move into our relationships with more spaciousness, acceptance, receptivity, and power.

Gemini Full Moon

On November 23, a Gemini Full Moon occurs while Gemini’s ruler, Mercury, is in retrograde. The Full Moon is opposite Jupiter while squaring Mars in Pisces, eliciting friction around issues of truth. It’s time for radical honesty, for admitting wrong, and for altering course if necessary. It’s also a time of profound spiritual potential, with Mars in Pisces and Jupiter in Sagittarius opening our minds beyond the material and mundane. We might find ways of communicating now that have more meaning, poetry, and depth—words that push us beyond concept, into the intangible and divine. The key now is to open our minds, to be willing to move through our discomfort for the purpose of seeking truth.

Venus Opposite Uranus

The month ends with a final Venus-Uranus opposition on November 30. The first opposition occurred on September 12, beginning a process of revolutionizing our relationships, money dynamics, and inner feminine, and jolting our value systems to the point of exasperation and confusion. Finally, today, we establish new patterns. In many ways, this is the culmination of Venus Retrograde. We’re moving into the future as new people—refreshed, inspired, and expansive. We’re writing our own futures, while embracing the mystery of the unknown. 

November 2018 Summary

November begins in the shadows of the Scorpion’s lair, but major shifts are on their way. Multiple planets, along with the nodes, are changing signs, ushering us into entirely new energetic terrain. Just when we thought it couldn’t get any darker, a plot twist emerges. The clouds part to reveal the bright light of Jupiter, who’s moving from challenging Scorpio into Sagittarius, his natural domicile. We’re ending a year of deep shadow work and beginning one of increased optimism, truth, and expansion. At the same time, the nodes are moving along the Cancer-Capricorn axis, bringing us into an age of the empowered feminine. We’re now prioritizing family and tribe, and leading others from a place of vulnerability and heart. Venus has a significant month as well. She stations direct, trines Mars, and ends the month in a final opposition to Uranus. Our dynamics around love, relationships, money, values, and the feminine are ready for revolution, while the painful dance between the genders begins to soften, and we gradually find more peaceful, synchronistic ways of relating. As always, free will comes into play, and how we work with these energies is up to us. If we can open our minds, embrace our journeys, and temper our tendencies toward dogma and excess, we have the chance now for profound spiritual openings, and for expanding our hearts, minds, relationships, and worlds beyond anything we could have imagined.

In colder weather, leaves crumbling beneath our feet, may we feel the joy of connecting with nature and each step on our path. May our hearts and minds open as we revel in truth—feeling the ineffable and divine, which transcend all words, concepts, categories, and definitions.
